12-10: Starting the school year right: Helping children with ADHD stay focused with regular physical activity

Summary

Typically, preparation for a new school year involves parents or guardians of school aged children going out to shop for new attire and school supplies. Although school supplies may help students get off on the right track; some children and youth may require a little more than notebooks and organizers to help stay focused in the classroom. Physical activity (PA) is recognized as an effective and necessary strategy for the healthy development of all children.
