The 2026 ParticipACTION Report Card on Physical Activity for the Early Years is Canada’s first-ever Report Card focused on children aged 0 to 4 years. It brings together the best available Canadian evidence on how young children move, play, sleep and engage in sedentary behaviours, as well as what’s shaping these opportunities. CFLRI is very pleased to be a part of this important initiative.
This Report Card shows that Canada’s youngest generation is off to a promising start when it comes to overall physical activity and other key indicators. Two-thirds (67%) of children in the early years meet the age-specific physical activity recommendation, while 80% are getting enough sleep. At the same time, there’s a critical opportunity to improve the number of young children meeting the screen time recommendation and the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines.
How do we grow from here and keep Canada’s youngest generation moving?
