The physical activity gap in Canada and what health professionals can do

By May 1, 2026No Comments1 min read

With fewer than half of all adults in Canada meeting physical activity guidelines, health sector professionals are uniquely positioned to help increase physical activity levels. This starts with making movement a measurable, monitored part of routine care – just like heart rate and blood pressure.

ParticipACTION has launched the Adult Report Card Health Sector Knowledge Brief: a collection of practical, evidence-informed recommendations from the 2025 ParticipACTION Report Card on Physical Activity for Adults to help health sector professionals promote and support physical activity among adults in Canada. CFLRI is proud to be a strategic data partner on this initiative.

From brief interventions in healthcare settings to integrating physical activity into programs, policies and care pathways, every action can help make movement a routine part of health management.
